How To Clear Acne

How to Clear Acne

Acne is one of the most common parts of growing up, and not many people know how to clear acne. This usually happens when people are pre-teens or teenagers, but has been known to last as long as the early stages of young adulthood.  It is often times extremely embarrassing during youth, and can even be painful.  As there are different types of acne, there are also different products that can be used to clear up acne and to be as presentable as possible. They are topical acne clearing treatments, cleansers and masks, and pills.

Since acne is caused when the oily bacteria on skin (called sebum) clogs pores. The bacteria grows inside the pores and creates a pimple. The first goal to clear up acne is to eliminate those clogged pores. This can be done with a facial cleanser, followed by a toner or astringent containing salicylic acid or witch hazel. It is best to use a clear soap and/or oil free cleanser so that the pores cannot become clogged again. The products will usually say “clear skin acne treatment” on the front, and can come in a pump, bottle, or even in a bar soap. Use a clean cotton ball to swipe the toner all around the face; the salicylic acid in the toner breaks down the bacteria in the pores and can also keep it from coming back. Salicylic acid can come in a number of forms, such as lotion or a clear acne treatment that looks like a gel. Follow this with a small amount of oil free moisturizer. Topical acne clearing solutions may also be used that contain benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. This destroys the bacteria inside the pore to provide an acne clearing solution, but take care that it does not irritate or redden the skin. A product that contains a small amount of sunscreen can do the trick for that. There are also different types of face scrubs and masks that provide exfoliation of the skin cells and pores. This should be done only once a week at the most. It is not hard to find these products at any drug store. This routine should be only done twice daily so the skin will not be raw and irritated.

Acne pills are also one the rise, and only come with a prescription from a doctor. For female teenagers and young adults some doctors may prescribe high-hormone birth control as a way to control acne.  It has been proven to work, but it can take at least a year to see any valid results. Once the face is clear acne treatment can stop because it can be unnerving having to take pills every day. There are several different types of acne pills available, but they are usually quite expensive and since they may have painful side effects, a dermatologist should be consulted before taking anything orally.

In our society beauty is praised almost above all things, and to keep clear skin acne is frustrating to deal with.  Clearing products are readily available and will help provide a solution in time. Knowing how to clear acne is definitely important for confidence.
